Hey, it’s Thanksgiving Eve!!  Took my usual Wednesday trip to target this morning and stocked up on some Cliff bars to take to Matt on Friday; checked out the 75% off racks and they have some cute OS plaid shirts for $6.24 and Mossimo sweater dresses for $6.24 too.  I got a black one but I really wanted beige.   Bags of apples were marked $2.39, so only $1.39 after Target $1 coupon.

There were wall to wall people at Target today and when I went back with Greg at lunchtime, as we were going thru the checkout he said “Why are there so many people here, you can’t move?”  And yes, he was serious – does Thanksgiving ring a bell??

Made my Sweet Potatoes with Streusel Topping this afternoon, and the batter for my pumpkin pancakes – it’s gonna be a sad sight when just Greg, Dave and I sit down to eat them tomorrow morning with walnuts in syrup without Matt.  He’s gonna have his room all to himself as his two room-mates are heading home for Thanksgiving – hopefully there’ll be some guys for him to hang with on base til we get there Friday at lunchtime.

We have our meeting here tonight – the topic will of course be Thanksgiving – we’ve all got plenty to be thankful for.  I haven’t made any goodies – tut tut!!  I guess I’ll have to raid the pantry to see what cookies I can find.

Another Terrific Tuesday with Li’l Cec – he kept trying to get into the candy I have on the counter, much too tempting for a toddler.   It was so hot and muggy today he didn’t enjoy his walk with Nanny and Grandad like he normally does and actually laid down on the sidewalk when we were almost home.

We’re going to Smashburger on a BOGO coupon for dinner tonight – I called ahead of time to check out the menu and they have some great salads.  Dave will, of course, have one of their fantastic burgers.  Then I have to go by TheChildrensplace – rememeber I went there Friday to do an exchange?  Well, you wouldn’t believe it but the guy put the same Henley in the bag instead of the new one.  I’ll whizz in quick so I won’t be tempted to buy anything else – I just love their clothes for Li’l Cec and they have such great sales and deals.

Wow, Marvellous Monday rolls around again!!  I remembered this morning I should’ve placed an In Memorium in my hometown newspaper, the Chard & Ilminster News for my darling niece Sarah who was killed in a car wreck 6 years ago.  England is 6 hours ahead of us so it was already mid afternoon when I called and as always, Nina, who’s in charge of notices/announcements etc. at the News Desk was so kind and helpful.  I managed to have my memorial to Sarah inserted in the nick of time so it will appear in the paper on Wednesday.  “We miss you so much Darling Sarah, you’ll always be our Star”.

I made the Chocolate Pecan Pie this morning and I have to say it turned out wonderfully – Matt would be proud of me.  I just have 2 other dishes to take to my sister in law’s house – Streusel Topped Sweet Potatoes and a brocolli dish – I think I’ll sprinkle some sun dried tomatoes on it – that’ll add some color to the table!!

Melody and Li’l Cec are coming over for dinner and I cooked a pot roast in the crock pot (I love my crock pot!), cheesy topped potato cubes, cauliflower and green beans; we’ve got a berry cobbler for dessert.

What happened to our seasonal cold weather?  It’s really warm and sunny today – hopefully we’ll get some cooler weather for Thanksgiving.  I must remember to buy sweet potatoes tomorrow – here’s my traditional recipe: pour some orange juice mixed with maple syrup over sliced sweet potatoes and sprinkle a streusel topping all over.  We also have green bean casserole - you gotta use fresh or frozen whole beans and fresh sliced mushrooms and of course, Matt’s famous Chocolate Pecan Pie which this year will be Carol’s Hopefully Famous Choccy Pecan Pie.

I was talking to someone today who went to the grocery store, paid $60 and used ZERO coupons!!  Why would anyone do that?  That is totally foreign and nuts to me.  I would’ve had 2 cartfuls of groceries if I paid $60 and would’ve saved around $200.  Sorry, I am blowing my own trumpet but I just can’t get my head around that.

My friend Rachel is in the hospital – went in for some shots in her back and the doctor collapsed her lung!!!  This is why we stay away from hospitals.   She went in yesterday, she’s had x-rays and still the doctor has not been to see her, so there she lies hooked up to a tube instead of being home with her family.  I’d better not get started…………..

It seemed more like a Strange Saturday today not having Li’l Cec spend the night but it was just as well as Greg was under the weather; however, after 10 long hours of sleep, he’s up and at ‘em.   We were able to talk to Matt on Skype this morning and meet his buddies – there was talk of a girl from one of these guys but Matt’s not spilling the beans on that one.

Yay, I’m back to being thankful as I’m a lot better today – that was yukky.  I was so tired when I went to bed and then I couldn’t sleep, my legs hurt so bad, my head was pounding and then, of all things, I twisted my wrist somehow and had to go downstairs and try to find my wrist band.  I think I slept maybe 3 hours total, so I’m off to bed early tonight.

I stayed out of everyone’s way at our meeting last night but there were only a handful here anyway – everyone else was sick like me and one had strep throat!!  One of our regulars, Frank who’s in his late 70′s fell down our steps flat on the cement – poor guy, he was a mess when I walked in on him with Li’l Cec.

Today I took Cec with me to check out the Old Navy 50% off sale – lots of good stuff to be had; I got a sweater that was already marked way down to $11.99 and after the 50% off,  plus the 30% coupon I told you about HERE, the final price for it was a mere $4!  Li’l Cec found the toys so he was happy as could be.

I’m siccckkkkk – I got this 24 hour bug from Melody who got it from Li’l Cec so I’m afraid I won’t be posting today.  I’m sure I’ll be fine tomorrow and very thankful for feeling well.

 feel terrific today despite the fact that Greg and I were both awake at 4am talking about things……. We thank God, that He’s always there to listen to our problems, to give us comfort and guidance.Had my hair cut this morning – I love my stylist Bea, she’s always so friendly and I love looking around the salon, Petra’s, they have beautiful clothes, jewelry, accessories etc.  I fell in love with a scarf that was shades of purple and ruffled along the edge, sooo cute and only $12 – I was sure it’d be at least $30.  Petra’s reminds me of my favorite store of all time in Ruidoso – it’s called Visions and it’s right at the top of town; one of the highlights of going to Ruidoso, besides the fabulous scenery and weather is Visions.  If only I could buy their stuff online…… 

Li’l Cec played outside all morning til Melody came to pick him up at lunchtime – before he ventured out, he got into my dish of Hershey’s kisses and devoured a half a dozen (sorry Mel!!)    I went inside to get my coffee and while I was in there, he took off his sandals and went running all over the yard – Matt’s best friend Dalton has always gone barefoot and that kid is 18 now but it bothers me to think of those little piggies getting into dirt ‘n’ thing.
